Deep into the night I go running, running.
Running here and there.
Deep into the night I go running.
Running I know not where
Am I off to find the battle?
Or from an enemy do I flee?
The damp fog closes in,
And little can I see.
Terror grips me so,
And from shadows I do shrink,
I feel a need to move fast,
For what reason I cant think.
Panic and Sorrow
Dominions of what I feel.
Haste is desired of me,
But Time the world does steal.
Deep into the night I go running, running.
Running here and there.
Deep into the night I go running.
Running I know not where
Theres a chill in the air,
And my lungs begin to freeze.
I gasp for air as I run,
Begging, Please, Please.
The howls in the distance,
And the mists billowing near.
I feel a sense of loss,
The loss of something dear.
Despite the burning cold,
I press on with my trek,
Having glimpsed a lantern,
A distant light speck.
Memories flood my head,
As hope enters my mind.
Images of sorrow and regret,
A weary face lined.
Deep into the night I go running, running,
Running here and there.
Deep into the night I go running,
Running I now know where.
A woman, a friend,
A loved one so treasured.
She needs a companion,
In ways that can not be measured.
Scorned and rejected,
Acknowledged by so few.
What can one such as I,
Possibly hope to do?
I am pillar, base,
A place to provide support.
I am the friendly defending voice,
In the Uncaring Unkind court.
Through dark bog and mire,
And frigid cutting air.
Give me time, give me patience,
And I will always get there.
Even now I struggle,
And break loose the shackle.
To be by your side when needed,
Any challenge I will tackle.
Deep into the night I went running, running,
Running everywhere.
Deep into the night I went running,
And now, I am there.
I am there with you,
Standing by your side.
Your Champion, your Defender,
Your tender and patient guide.
Through the dark I came,
And through the dark I lead you.
Past the mire and bog,
To a life you choose what to do.
Past the ridicule, past the shouts.
Far beyond the hate and shame.
To a place of joy, beauty, and peace,
You will always have a claim.
Deep in to the night I came running, running,
Running Now and Then,
Deep into the night I came running,
To you I will always run again.
